Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a great day. I’ve had a full day of running errands followed by coffee with my lovely friend. It’s amazing how my ladies are coming forward in support of my current family situation. It warms my heart to know how many people care. Someday I hope to pay it forward by helping others thru difficult times.
I have received many questions about my Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses project. So far I have only pieced two blocks which I posted a photo of yesterday …..
You may have noticed that both blocks are the same layout except that I have changed the placement of the light, medium and dark patches in different places giving each block a unique look. I have seen this Patchwork of the Crosses design made up once or twice before over the years and didn’t realise what it was all about until I saw someone working on it recently and she had a small stack of finished blocks. And that’s when I realised that it was hexagons, albeit elongated hexagons which of course are my favourite. It’s a long term project that will definitely get me thru the winter and beyond.
I just want to remind you that I am running a giveaway. If you want to enter please click here to be taken to the post for details on how to enter.
So for this evening, this very happy and super ambitious quilt maker will be working on POTC and thoroughly enjoying it. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you truly enjoy doing. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
Hiya Lucie 🙂 I commented yesterday but its vanished again! Oh well, wanted to say how I liked your fussy cutting of the checked fabric. Think this is looking lovely already 🙂 I’m stitching away on a cushion for my sons room at uni. He likes the tree of life so I’ve made a silhouette against a paper pieced sunset background. machine appliqueing all those branches has been rather time consuming but I’m going to have it done. Tonight I am in my cabin getting that finished, no hand stitching for me.This weeks almost done and I hope you’ve had a good week with not too many challenging parts. I’m really ready for a bit of Autumn weather now, don’t know about you! Have a lovely evening x lou
Hi Lou, Max is going to love his cushion. What you described sounds fab. I’m sure you’re sewing like mad to get it finished. You’ve reminded me that I have a nice little wholecloth that I want to turn into a cushion, another UFO. I’ll be glad when the week is finished. No nasty stuff has happened this week but we do have one more workday left. I’ll be glad when 6 o’clock Friday arrive! I feel autumn is just around the corner and like you I’m ready. I’ve been crunching thru piles of leaves while walking my Maisie in the morning. Now all I need is the beautiful Fall colours to accompany the crunching leaves. Have a fab weekend Lou. Thanks for popping in today x
I’m just loving your elongated hexagon blocks & can see you being able to work the colours lots of different ways. Look forward to seeing how they come together over long term. Wow, you certainly have big ships in your local port!
Take care.
Hi Lucie, It’s amazing how changing the colour placement changes the appearance of the blocks. I am not game to start another EPP project as my one and only was started back in the 70’s. I made the hexie flowers and left it. When I joined a Quilting Group they suggested putting another row around each flower. Years later when I finally put it together it was massive (King Size). I have hand quilted a bit over half of it but haven’t touched it for at least 4 years. It is Spring in my part of the world so I guess if I want to get some more done I had better start before the heat arrives. Thanks for your blog, I really enjoy reading it. Take care.
Hi Debbie, you should give your hexie quilt another go. It would be fantastic to get it finished. We all need closure! I sure would like to know where you’re from. I have entered you into my giveaway draw. Good luck and thanks for popping in x
After reading your blog the other day, I googled the Lucy Boston POC quilt and looked at lots & lots of lovely photos. They quilt looks lovely when finished but I think I’ll stick to my hexagons at the moment. This may be a project for when I’m retired!
Hi Fran, Lucy Boston’s hexies sound like a great project for retirement. Thanks for popping in today x
Hi Lucie It was good to see you yesterday. I have to say you look fab. I’m glad things are a little easier for you at the moment. Can you tell me again … what a pest I am. sorry. What we have to bring for the Q4C in December.please? Thanks again Lucie for all your help and Patience Brigid x
