Hello my lovelies. I seem to be missing in action quite a lot of the time this summer. Well I’m just busy having a good time. The summer will soon be over and I don’t want to miss out on any summery activity I could possibly be taking part in. I have noticed that a lot of the back to school merchandise is disappearing off the shelves in the shops which reminds that the kids will soon be back to school. I can remember getting my Sarah ready for back to school all those years ago. Nowadays she purchases her own supplies but I must admit I still love looking at all the new stuff. And although I don’t buy pencil cases for myself I still have a good look at them at this time of year. I can’t believe how time is flying.
I’ve done so much over the last few weeks that I can’t remember half of what I did. I can tell you that I have been living a very fulfilling life. Probably because I have stayed away from watching the Olympics. My Sarah and I have had a few road trips exploring the north of my little corner of the northeast of England. We’ve made new friends and had one or two catch up sessions with old friends. Life is much easier in happy quilter land of late.
Now let’s move onto a little sewing news. Well to be honest there isn’t a lot because I have been keeping busy by doing other things. I’ve been playing with woolly bits …..
I’ve been re-acquainting myself with hand quilting tools …..
I’ve revamped old designs …..
By adding a new twist …..
And in my quest to stamp my own personality to my space, I’ve added a lick of paint to old furniture …..
And now and again I observed nature do what it does quite naturally …..
So far it’s been a pretty good summer. My Sarah and I have recharged our batteries in readiness for any opportunity that might come our way this autumn. There’s so much to look forward to. I look forward to the warm colours of autumn. And this year, Christmas will be very different, something else to really look forward to.
Something that always amazes, and I have mentioned this many times before but I’m going to say this again. I am amazed about how many people read my simple daily ramblings. Readers from so many different countries around the world. When I got up at 6am this morning these were the countries I got hits from, US, UK, France, Russia, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Algeria, Singapore, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, South Korea, Italy and India, just to name a few. It’s amazing! I think it must be time to organise another giveaway just to say thank you for popping in. So keep reading and I will announce something soon. In the meantime, I will find some nice prizes to award to the winners.
So for this evening, this very happy and super ambitious quilt maker will be making circles to appliqué onto a 25 UFO blocks. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that you truly enjoy doing. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
I still love looking at all the back to school goodies too!! You have achieved a lot over the summer – and it isn’t over yet! I saw someone in Singapore had checked out your blog – if only we could have a trip there, and sit in Crossroads Cafe, sipping on a chilled glass of wine and watching the world go by. They say if you sit there long enough, someone you know will walk past………
Hi Anne, sitting in the Crossroads Café watching the world go by sounds like the perfect way to round out my super summer. I’ll add that trip to my bucket list.
I can’t believe how quickly the summer has whizzed by. I hope to be able to accomplish even more tasks by the time the kids go back to school. Thanks for popping in today x
I find myself looking at the school supplies and then remind myself I don’t need to buy them anymore. Summer has gone and before you know it Christmas Break will be coming. Enjoy all these young minds.
Time certainly does just whizz by. I’m really looking forward to Christmas this year. Thanks for popping in today x
I love back to school items…there on sale here in the USA and it is a great time to stock up for my stash…I’m so ready for fall….I hope Sarah and yourself have a wonderful time…..I do miss reading your ramblings….take care ..read you soon..
Nannett
Hi Nannett, thank you for your encouraging works. It’s taken great willpower to stop myself from buying back to school supplies that I don’t even need. I’m sure I’m going to crack and buy enough stuff to fill my stationary drawer before the kids go back to school here in the UK!!! I love mechanical pencils and stick erasers for designing my new appliance blocks. So I could justify buying some of them.
Thanks for popping in today Nannett x
There are so many bloggers that just talk about the projects that people are working on. The blogs that seem to be most popular are the ones that people can relate to, where people can get inside of someone’s life (not on a nasty way, just one that they can relate to). People seem to love to to associate with the bloggers life. That’s how I feel that you are a success. Keep doing what you are doing, it’s great.
Hi Linda, I worried at times that I might be a bit boring mentioning my private life but now I realise that we’re all human and we can relate to all the everyday things that happen in each other’s lives. Thanks for popping in today Linda x
Hallo Lucie, great to hear from you.it must take a long time but I’m one of the many who enjoy reading your notes. I have learnt so much, been encouraged a lot, and just enjoy reading about life in the north east. Never made it there though I only live in the Midlands!.
Enjoy your time with Sarah
Hi Monica, once things settle down in my life I will start posting more regularly. Life has a way of getting in the way at times. I’ll be back as good as I was. Sometimes you need to simplify life just to get thru each day. Thanks for popping in today. I’ll be back soon x
What a lovely lot of photos. Love the revamped gingerbread man hanging. It seems you’ve done lots this summer, but no pics so far of your sightseeing. Oh, the bird in it’s bath reminds me that our magpies are up to no good at the moment, as it is nearly Spring here, and our back lawn seems to be the venue. They are characters though. Stationery can be downfall too at times. Don’t laugh at this, but the radio is just playing my “absolute” favourite piece of music, “Musicbox Dancer”. I love it & could listen to it all day. Take care & have a great weekend.
Hi Susan, I very rarely see Magpies in my wee garden. We do have plenty of Magpies dotted around the countryside but I must admit I prefer the smaller birds for which I put seed out.
Music Box Dancer, a very interesting piece of music indeed. Thanks for popping in today Susan x
Im so very pleased to see that your life is becoming a much more pleasant adventure for you. It is so very important to enjoy what your doing even if its something that you would, if you could, avoid. Take care of yourself and Sarah and enjoy your new world.
Hugs

Hi Gayle, there finally seems to be light at the end of the tunnel now. I’m sure Christmas will be a much time for my Sarah and I this year. I look forward to celebrating with loved ones and friends alike. In the meantime, I’m going to carry on enjoying what’s left of the summer. Thanks for popping in today Gayle x
Thank you for posting, I love to get the latest blog from you in my email box.
Thank you for your very kind words. Once my life is a little more settled I will be posting regularly again. I’m so looking forward to Christmas x
I love your butcher’s block, it turned out great. It goes without saying the the gingerbread block is good. The old was lovely and the new looks so spiffy.
Hi Fran, I was just looking out the window watching the rain when your comment came in. I love gingerbread characters but for a long time I thought I was too old for that kind of thing. Well I have changed my mind. We should do more of what makes us happy and working with gingerbread men does it for me.
Painting my butcher’s block was very therapeutic. And now it looks fabulous. I have other pieces of furniture which I will be painting as well sometime between now and Christmas. It’s great to put my own stamp on my surroundings. I hope everything looks spiffy when I finish with it. Thanks for popping in today Fran x
Love your gingerbread block. It’s so nice to see pictures and hear about adventures in other parts of the world. Looking forward to more of your posts.
Hi Judy, I’m so glad you like my gingerbread men. I’m a little bit smitten with the project myself! I’ll be back next week hopefully with news and progress. Thanks for popping in today Judy x
