Well that’s all folks. All the tinsel and the twinkle have been put away for another year. My living room looks a bit bare now that Christmas has all but disappeared. So I will have to replace that glitz with some flowers I think. Or perhaps I should get all my bright cheerful scraps and make a scrappy quilt ……
It’s been another quiet day in happy longarm quilter land. After my trip to the supermarket to restock the cupboards I made the dreaded phone call. I couldn’t put it off any longer. I gathered up all the info I thought I would need and I phoned my car insurance company regarding the accident that cause Miss Daisy’s damage the Saturday before Christmas. It’s something I’ve never had to do before and I wasn’t sure how it was all going to work. It took 35 minutes and it was all done. Now we can get on with the next part of this unfortunate adventure. I realise that the hassle isn’t over yet. At the end of the day no one was hurt during the accident and we’ve had a little bit of sunshine earlier and I think we have to look on the bright side and get on with life now. So I plan on looking forward instead of back.
Christmas has just finished and the supermarkets have already jumped to the next season. Look what I found on the shelves of my local supermarket today……
I guess the Easter bunny is getting ready for a visit.
After stabilising my whimsy borders last evening I moved onto tacking the patches of my “A” is for Appliqué December block. It certainly does look different from the drawing I was working from. The coloured fabric patches adds a little life to the block. I can’t wait to get the fine hand stitching started. The words will make all the difference as well.
It’s been a really nice day in happy longarm quilter land. I worked quietly doing a whole lot of mundane things. All my Christmas decorations are put away and things are starting to feel normal again. I have loads of projects I want to get started on but I need to get myself back into the crafting zone slowly. I don’t want to overdose in the first week.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some stitchery work. I hope you have a lovely evening doing something super interesting. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
I haven’t even finished the choccies for xmas, and Easter eggs are already out? lol
It does seem early for Easter Eggs! Thanks for popping in Claire.
Hi Lucie, Happy New Year! I can’t believe cream eggs are already in-store! Like Claire, I am still eating my Christmas Chocolates! I liked your applique borders in the last post and thought how nice they would look as curtain tie-backs! Just wanted to say how much I have loved reading all your posts in 2013 and for the advice and inspiration you give your readers. Being a beginner sewer/quilter I rely on expert quilters to keep me on the right track with my projects so a huge thanks from me! Enjoy your stitchery work tonight and I hope Miss Daisy’s repair bill isn’t too painful!
I agree that my borders would make fab curtain tie backs. I’m so glad I could be of help over the past year. I hope to be able to inspire and help in 2014 as well. Thanks for popping in tonight Karen.
I’m jealous that you already have your Christmas decorations put away. It’s hard for me to say goodbye just yet–and such a chore. Always more fun to put up than take down. And I’ve had in mind to design some small applique quilts based on my paintings. I’m impressed that you are constantly making progress–but all I do is think about it. I guess starting is the hardest part. You inspire me!
I quite often get the “blank page syndrome” but once I’ve drawn the first line or rotary cut the first fat quarter there’s no stopping me. So just do some line drawings of your paintings to use as templates, choose some fabrics and go for it. The Christmas decorations can wait another day. Have a little play. Let me know how you get on.
You are kidding me??!! Easter eggs?? Already??!! Supermarkets should be banned from doing this sort of thing – it’s just ridiculous!
Silly supermarkets! We haven’t even digested our Christmas chocolates yet. Thanks for popping in Meredithe.
Hi Lucie. We put our decorations away today, too. Son is in the Air Force and was home for several days. He would have been so disappointed if we’d had no decorations up. But he left this morning, so away they went! Fortunately there were not many, but yes, it looks rather empty.
Now it’s time to take stock, consider what my priorities are, and how I want to use my time this year. Then I can dive in!
I look forward to seeing what you dive into this year. Enjoy the journey Melanie.
Happy new year Lucie, We put our decs away too. Isla the Scottie thought it was good to take the fabric ones off the tree and knocked the tree over in the process once. The floor looked very glittery so a bit of a sring clean was needed. I enjoy reading your blogs but I just wish I could work at half your speed. Ann
It sounds like your Isla the Scottie pup has had a brilliant Christmas. That’s what life is all about, new adventures leading up to a new year.
There’s no need to speed up the pace of work as long as your enjoying it. Just enjoy the journey all the while learning something. Happy New year to you both.
