Does anyone out there in blog reading land read the copyright info in every patchwork and quilting book and pattern they purchase? I think it’s quite generally known that we’re not supposed to make copies to pass around our quilting/crafting groups. It’s the law. As a sometimes designer I believe that it’s fair that the designers who spend hours on end designing and testing patterns should get credit for what they do. As a rule I don’t pass on copyrighted materials. I believe my integrity was recently under suspicion regarding copyright material, when in fact I had printed out a free download from the internet design for a quilt making friend after we both decided to attempt making a lovely heart stitchery quilt. It is my understanding that these free downloads are open to anyone to use otherwise they would not be posted on the internet. So if you ever happen to see me handing someone a copy of something, rest assured that it is either a free download or most likely one of my very own designs which I am entitled to hand out whenever to whoever I wish. I quite often post links to interesting free downloads on this blog. As a generous longarm quilter/crafty type of person I plan to continue to do so whenever I find something worth sharing. If you spend a little time perusing the links on my blogroll you might find interesting stuff as well. Now I come to the point of this paragraph; it’s a shame that the actions of a few, brings suspicion to the integrity of so many others.
It’s been a brilliant Sunday. My Sarah and I spent the morning with the Diary Dames at the Crafts House in Marley Hill. There were eight busy ladies working on a variety of projects with the very talented Sandra floating around helping us to get on with our tasks. We discussed a wide variety of subjects including skydiving which one of our very own Dames would like to try. I think Doreen should go for it. We also discussed the whereabouts of Hermann the master baker and also the best place to purchase junk jewellery to use in our crafts. I got a lot further along on my project than I thought I would. I will post a photo of said project when I get the embellishing done.
I have my baby home all week as its half-term break this week. I have re-arranged my schedule to accommodate her. So my normal Tuesday morning sewing session has been shelved in favour of spending some quality time with my first born child. I also have to squeeze some longarm quilting time in somehow. I think it’s going to be another busy week trying to fit in as much into everyday as we possibly can!
My Sarah received a parcel yesterday from Grammie which is my mother who lives in Montreal. The parcel contained a whole load of goodies and this lovely doll which Grammie crafted some 15 years ago. Along with the doll, Grammie sent photos of my Sarah with the doll when she was about 6 months old. Sarah was a lovely little baby. Where have the years gone?
I purchased these two fat quarters a couple of weeks ago. I found a great tutorial on the internet this past week that I would like to try out. I love the range of fabrics that these two bits come from but the name of the range escapes me at the moment. In fact I’m quite tempted to make a whole quilt using the range. I just designed a new quilt yesterday that would look really good in this range. If I win the lottery this week I will treat myself to some of these fabrics to piece this newly designed quilt.
For this evening, this happy longarm quilter will be playing with those two fat quarters and testing out the tutorial that I found. Whatever you may be doing, I hope it brings you peace and joy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching.
P.S.: I received a present today. Have a look at the tag attached to the parcel. Thank you friend. You made my day.
